Chaz Chattha champion!
Chaz Chattha has won the GUKPT Luton, after overcoming a field of 212 players over three days to lift the trophy, and collect the £59,360 ($96,678) first place prize.
With his latest win the UK pro now takes his life time earnings to $718,639, whilst also enhancing the reputation of the five man professional poker group he is a part of known as ‘The Hit Squad.’
This highly successful group from London, England, has been sharing poker strategy since 2005 and includes James Akenhead, 2 times WSOP bracelet winner Praz Bansi, Sunny Chattha and Karl Mahrenholz.
Incredibly, on the final day of play in the £1,000 buy-in tournament, Chaz started day 3 as the shortest stack of the ten remaining players, with just 10BB.
Chaz Chattha then managed to build up his stack after a series of re-raises and shoves which went unchallenged, whilst other players fell by the wayside.
Andrew Feldman then went out in third place (£25,970) thus heralding in the heads-up phase of the competition between Chattha and the 2010 EPT Vilamoura winner Toby Lewis. Way behind in chips, Lewis attempted an early double-up after being dealt A-10, but unfortunately for him ran into the A-K of Chattha and so just like that Toby Lewis finished the runner-up for £40,280, while Charles was crowned the 2011 GUKPT Luton champion.
In the end it proved to be fifth time lucky for Chattha, who had made four GUKPT Main Event final tables before. He also adds a fifth GUKPT Main Event title to the list of ‘Hit squad’ accolades, who now have over $6 million in winnings between them.
